Professor Anthony Schwarer is a senior Haematologist and Transplant Physician in the public and private sectors with appointments at Box Hill Hospital and Austin Hospital in Melbourne, and also has an honorary appointment at Monash University. Professor Schwarer obtained his MBBS (Hons) and MD from the University of Queensland, Australia. He completed his training in Hematology at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital, London, UK, under the guidance of Professor John Goldman. Professor Schwarer’s major research interest has been and continues to be CML. He has been involved in many of the major CML trials involving interferon, imatinib, nilotinib and ponatinib. He is a member of many national and international professional organizations including the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand, the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Bone Marrow Transplantation and the Bone Marrow Transplant Society of Australia and New Zealand. Professor Schwarer has authored and co-authored more than 100 articles in leading national and international peer-reviewed journals.
